NeneGate SEMH Hub and Services
Peterborough City Council and a number of primary, secondary and special schools work together to create a network of specialist hubs in schools across the city.
These hubs are ‘centres of expertise’ to help improve the support for all children with special educational needs and disabilities in all schools in the Peterborough area. The primary focus of a hub is to equip themselves and other schools to support pupils with specific SEND. Some of these hubs have a limited number of places for pupils.
NeneGate is a centre of expertise for Social, Emotional and Mental Health. We aim to offer peer – to – peer support for other schools in a flexible way. Our primary focus is in offering high quality training, in conjunction with our partners in the Educational Psychology Service and Peterborough SENI services. We believe that delivering training and supporting colleagues to upskill is the most effective way in which we can support as many children as possible across education settings in Peterborough.
We also offer tours of our school and the opportunity for professionals to come and observe our practice. We will also offer consultation slots for individual schools, where we can have professional discussions that support schools to problem-solve and address needs in their own settings.
We will share resources and ideas and also visit other settings to deliver training or discuss SEMH needs in a broad sense with colleagues. We do not offer consultations about individual pupils or visit schools to carry out observations of individual pupils.
We work closely with a range of other organisations, in particular the Educational Psychology Service, NHS Mental Health Support Team, CAMHS and the NHS Neurodevelopmental services, to ensure that our pupils receive the highest quality support we can offer and our staff receive regular training so their knowledge is up-to-date and they are continually improving their professional practice.
