Family Partnership
Working in partnership with families is essential in ensuring that children are successful when they come to our school. We know that, as their child has progressed through school, many of our families have encountered real difficulties accessing support, whether that is from Health or Education. We value our parents and carers and are keen to establish positive relationships from the beginning of their child’s time at NeneGate.
To help establish these relationships and ensure that expectations are clear, we have a Communication Charter. We co-produced this with our families and it outlines our commitment to parents and carers.

We also have a Family Partnership Officer, Miss Val Martin, whose role is to engage with and support parents and carers. Val facilitates our Family Partnership Group, which meets regularly. The group runs social activities for parents and carers and also helps to plan some of our big end of term events, such as our Christmas and Summer Fayres and our Easter Bingo. The group also hosts information coffee mornings, where there is the opportunity for a social catch up as well as accessing information.
Sometimes these are attended by school staff who have information to give. At other times we invite external speakers from groups such as Family Voice or Families First. We have also hosted training for parents from our Educational Psychologist and, this year, are thinking about how we can offer some events to support parent and carer wellbeing.

At the start of every term, a list of key dates is sent to families, which includes the dates of our Family Partnership meetings as well as wider school social events. We hope to see as many parents and carers as possible. We know that some parents and carers have pre-school age children and these children are always welcome at our events.
Please do watch out for the information that is emailed out about these and also let Miss Martin know if you would like to become involved in the committee.
